The UVA Club of the Triangle awards an annual scholarship, as administered and maintained by the Education Committee.
The Triangle Hoos provide one scholarship annually to a local student attending UVA in the fall. To apply, the candidates had to submit a maximum 400-word essay on a provided topic. A committee rated the entries according to three criteria: creativity, clarity, and use of the English language. Scholarship applications are mailed by the Club after notification of those accepting the UVA offer of admission (our list of addresses is provided by UVA's Office of Admissions.) In mid-August, the Education Committee holds a picnic, inviting all new and current UVA students for the purpose of meeting other new Wahoos before the trek to college. This send-off also serves as our forum for our Triangle Hoos Scholarship presentation. The amount of scholarship money varies each year and is dependent on scholarship and membership donations provided to The UVA Club of the Triangle by local area alumni (visit our membership page, to discover how you can support our scholarship through membership). |
